PRAISE COMMUNITY CHURCH – SEMENYIH

Hey People!!!!!!!! How are ya’ll doing?? Okay…this few weeks had been a huge blessing. We’re done with one of our major events, THE BBQ PARTY, There are few more huge ones up our sleeves.
A few months towards our BBQ party, we, Radically Saved, was approached by a couple via facebook. They spoke and cliqued with us the moment we met. They were our host last 31st August. They approached us for assistance for their church building fund.
Read on la! I haven’t come to the point yet.
The couple, Rita and Sasi, came up with an initial plan of a charity dinner. Guess what? In true RS spirit, we took up the challenge and start laying out plans and quite a few “extravagant and radical” ideas so to speak.
RS got to know this couple even more and about their church that we are about to help as well. The couple attends Praise Community Church (PCC). This is an outreach of the Kajang Assembly Of God. PCC was established in August of 2002 and the Church was located in Semenyih in a two storey shop lot with just over 15 members. Believe it because 2 or more gathered in HIS name IS a CHURCH. Currently they are in the process of moving to a better place which now located in Bandar Sunway Semenyih.
Of course with a church there must be a man who is running the will of the guy upstairs right? The congregation is lead by Pastor Marcel Joseph, with the assistance of his wife, Sister Eva in worship and prayer every Sundays. The community is mainly made up of Tamil Christians from around Kajang and Semenyih. The church actually goes into places like Oil Palm Estates in and around Kajang and Semenyih bringing the good news.
It is common knowledge that moving to a new place is very taxing in resources and financially. PCC had purchased a building which is much more accessible for the existing congregation and also the new ones which I am very sure that will boom in no time.
PCC has seen tremendous growth in the past few years and presently stands at over 130 members, inclusive of children. See told ya’ll that it’s a huge number. They also had been actively involved in various ministries and have regular cell group meetings in various members’ houses.
Under the leadership of Pastor Marcel, PCC has continued to extend their ministry to nearby estates such as Abaco Estate and soon we will be reaching out to Dunedin Estate, all in and around Semenyih. It is quite an amazing feat to see a church to grow at that rate in just few years time.
Read on to know more on the Estate Ministries that PCC caters.

The Abaco ministry began four years ago. They started by providing free tuition and organizing children’s church on Saturdays. At first used a dilapidated house which belonged to a worker. After two years, the house was demolished and the estate chief clerk allowed us to use the nursery school. When they wanted to install ceiling fans, they were told to do it at their own risk because chairs and mats would go missing as the crèche was not locked. But our God is a prayer answering God. One month later, they were given the keys to a house which was completely renovated, painted and had a fan installed for the use of MIC’s community projects. The chief clerk gave them the keys to the house as he appreciated their work. See its not a myth when you hear good deeds has its own rewards and blessings.
In addition to that, PCC had built a good relationship with the families in the estate and are able to minister to them. They have begun to open up and share their problems with them. The church members would ask them (PCC) to pray whenever they have a need.
PCC believes the Lord is doing a great work in their lives. Some of them have testified how God has intervened in their lives. Recently, one of them wanted a Tamil Bible because she saw a vision of Jesus Christ and was healed of a terrible pain in her leg after she prayed and called upon Jesus. No doubt that it is such a blessing to receive and such a wonderful testament to HIS name. Occasionally, some of them come to church. Sincerely we (RS) believe that God will do many more great things among this group of people and will lift them up from oppression, poverty and rejection.
Apart from the Estate ministry, Praise Community Church members are also involved in Single Women Ministry. Under the guidance of the Pastor and senior members of the Church, we continue to assist single mothers who are in need of support, both financially as well as emotionally. The Church members often donate food and clothing to the single mothers which in turn helps to ease their burden. From this ministry PCC has now established a ‘half-way house’ for women who are in distress or in urgent need of a place to shelter. The home is called ‘Rumah HatiKu”.
What you have just read is just a small fraction of what Radically Saved had heard from the couple. It is amazing how a small step that a church takes could impact lives of so many in a huge way. Clearly without any doubt that all this work, there should be financial backing. In the end of the day, it is the will and the work of God is in the main picture.
There this once Rita was sharing with us that the church doesn’t even have a proper sound system. There this once a guest speaker comes to the church to share. Everything was going on fine till the mic went off. Mind it that they don’t have cordless mics that some churches are accustomed to. When the guest speaker asked to change the mic, they had to switch mics with the worship team. Which we were told only had 2 mics. For a moment I was relieved that I wasn’t in the Pastor’s shoes. It was heart wrenching to hear that a church that was so involved in the Lords work undergoing this much.
Here where RS comes in with Sasi and Rita’s Building Fund. The date is confirmed. Which if I am not wrong, is set on the 28th March 2009? It might not seem like a long time, but believe me it is just a small time period. Come on it translates into a semester of my course la. So short!!! The tickets for this charity event are priced at RM 150.00 per head and RM 1500.00 per table (10pax. per table). We will be having it at Bangsar Seafood Restaurant.
